High Tech for Disabled
Providing better access for physically disabled people can help
them to be more independent but there are many every day activities that are still
difficult or even impossible. New technologies are now being developed that promise to
deliver high tech solutions to the difficulties facing many disabled people, but how
realistic are these promises ?
Will blind people
ever benefit from synthetic retinas ? Will paraplegics ever have their neural fibres
repaired sufficiently for them to be able to walk ? Or is it better to concentrate on
improving access for all, no matter what their abilities ?
